CNG vs Traditional Fuelling

Introduction
Several factors need to be considered before purchasing a car and one of the biggest factors is the fuel type. Before you narrow down your purchase options, you must decide which fuel type you wish to use. The mileage and operating costs of the car heavily depend on the fuel it runs on. Thus knowing which fuel is best for your needs is crucial. The three primary fuel types in the market are CNG, petrol, and diesel. We have brought you a comparison between CNG and traditional fuelling options so that you can better understand the advantages of CNG over the rest and make an informed decision.
CNG vs petrol/diesel mileage
CNG vehicles are the most fuel-efficient of the three types of vehicles. While the average mileage for a mid-size automobile that runs on petrol or diesel is 15 kmpl and 17 kmpl, respectively, the average mileage for CNG is roughly 25-30 km/kg
CNG vs petrol/diesel engine life
In comparison to petrol or diesel, CNG leaves a significantly lesser residue, resulting in less damage to the engine's pipes and tubes which in turn extends the engine's life. Less contamination means fewer service visits, which is another reason to use a CNG vehicle.
On the other hand, Diesel engines have been historically known to survive the longest because of their volatile nature. They are known for being excellent lubricants, however, CNG vehicles are also promising higher efficiency in terms of engine life with new technological advancements.
CNG vs petrol/diesel car maintenance
Diesel and petrol cars need higher maintenance with each passing year. The insurance for diesel cars is also costlier in the long run. Whereas, a CNG car is very affordable to maintain as there are rarely any additional costs. A basic check-up of the engine and the CNG kit while servicing the car is more than enough to keep it well-maintained.
Advantages of CNG
1. Better for the environment
CNG-powered vehicles have been shown to release 30% lesser greenhouse gases than petrol and diesel vehicles. CNG also emits 95% less nitrogen oxide than petrol and diesel. This means you and your vehicle do not harm the environment as much. It can cut carbon dioxide emissions by 30%, carbon monoxide emissions by 85%, and carcinogenic particle emissions by up to 99% which helps maintain air quality.
2. Fuel price
CNG has always been the cheapest alternative among all fuel types. The Current CNG price is Rs 76 per kg or $2.49 per Gasoline Gallon Equivalent (GGE), whilst petrol is approximately 121 and diesel is approximately 95 per litre. Considering that CNG is cheaper and yields much better mileage, it is the most cost-efficient fuel to use.
3. CNG is safer and easily available
CNG is found in the gaseous state, unlike petrol or diesel which are found in the liquid state. Because it is gas, it disperses faster than LPG and other fuels. In addition to safety, CNG solves the availability issue as well. CNG pumps like AG&P CNG stations are now easily available throughout the county so that the consumer faces no trouble.
